Women in Business – Double Nomination for Talem Group

On Tuesday 4th October two close friends and joint-business owners attended Saunton Sands Hotel, Barnstaple, for the finalists’ announcement of the Devon Venus Awards 2016. The event is dubbed the ‘Women’s Working Oscars’ and was formed in 2009 to recognise, reward and celebrate local working women in business.

Representing The Talem Recruitment Group was the group’s Managing Director, and founder of Astra Recruitment, Donna Barnes. Alongside her and also representing the group was Carol McGeary, Co-Director of Talem and Director of Mitrem Recruitment.

The announcement saw both women qualify as finalists; in the Entrepreneur of the Year and Networker of the Year categories. What makes this all the more special is that both friends have made this 20-year journey together, with the last six years’ being spent developing the Talem Group.

Ms Barnes said “we are both absolutely thrilled to have reached the final in the Devon Venus Awards 2016, it is a privilege to be nominated and to have come this far”. Last year 350 guests attended the glitzy and glamorous Venus Awards Ceremony. This years event plans to be bigger than ever, and will see finalists, media, sponsors and guests all come together to celebrate the achievements of these incredibly successful business women.

The entire Talem team, which currently incorporates five separate agencies – Astra Recruitment, Mitrem Recruitment, Next Generation Care, Next Generation Education and recently launched Global Talent Bank, all have their fingers crossed for the pair, who are the only finalists to be representing the same business at the awards.

The awards had over 2000 entries from applicants in Devon, so to reach the final is a huge achievement. The ceremony will be held on the 18th November 2016, which will see every finalist from each category battle it out for the coveted award.
